Bass Spawn Begins!

This is most Bass fishing anglers favorite time of the year to go fishing for big Bass. The Bass Spawn has began and there are big female Bass shallow!

Sight Fishing Spawning Bass

Picture
On my trip with Robbie and Mike, we began our morning fishing shallow looking for spawning females and males on beds. The key was finding isolated lily pads, hydrilla and a sandy bottom in 1-6 feet of water. Our water temperature had been in the mid 60's for a few weeks and had warmed to 69-70 this morning and we were fishing during a new moon. These are all the perfect ingredients to get the big female Bass up shallow on Bass beds. We can always tell the male from the female because the male is smaller, usually 1-3 pounds. The females are much larger, ranging anywhere from 4-10 pounds this time of year. We saw quite a few Bass around the 10 pound mark, and caught a bunch of 3-4 pound Bass. We used speed worms and brush hogs to catch the bedding Bass, then went deep in the afternoon in search of feeding pre-spawn females. We ended our day catching around 25 fish, and caught 4 off beds! Give me a call at 407-455-4521 or email nativebassfishing@gmail.com to book your Orlando fishing charters today!
