Fishing Slow and Steady
Submerged GrassLake temperatures are in the low 90's on the surface which is very hot. Bass are cruising around the 15-30ft range looking for submerged grass and cooler water. There are many submerged grass beds throughout the Butler Chain of Lakes in Orlando which provides the perfect habitat for summer bass fishing. We Target these fish with a slow presentation using 1/32oz weights or even weightless baits like flukes and worms. There will usually be a lot of fish around deep submerged grasses, so once we find them and get the school fired up we can catch a lot of fish very quickly. Throwing topwater frogs early in the morning or late in the afternoon has been very productive as well. Summer time is one of the best times for frog fishing, and is one of our favorite ways to catch bass in the summer. Drop shot rigs with a small worm will also be very productive this time of year along grass edges, drop offs and in deep holes.
