Winter Bass Fishing
Pre-Spawn Bass FishingOur Bass are in full pre-spawn mode. This means that all the males and females are very active, and are feeding throughout most of the day. As these fish begin staging to spawn, they are commonly found in 10-20ft of water, and are feeding on the Hydrilla and Eel Grass edges. We've been fishing with Rapala Suspending Jerkbaits, Alabama Rigs, Senko's, and swimbaits. We are seeing schools of Bass and birds feeding all over the Butler Chain of Lakes, and most of our fish have big fat bellies right now! We have been catching around 15-25 Bass in 4 hours with the average fish weighing 2-3 pounds. We've been catching at least 1 fish over 4 pounds every trip, and expect to see bigger fish being caught as we get closer to the Spawn in mid February.
