Phenomenal Tarpon Fishing!

We are seeing large numbers of Tarpon in Cocoa Beach on Florida's East Coast! This is one of Captain Austin's favorite fish to target due to their hard fighting nature and their ability to jump 5 ft out of the water once hooked. We've been catching around 5 Tarpon each trip and hooking into many others throughout the day. The are Snook are also mixed in with the Tarpon.

Using Artificial Lures to Catch the Silver King

All of the Tarpon we've been catching have been on artificial lures. Swinbaits rigged on jig heads and the DOA shrimp have been the most effective. Our clients are getting many shots at the Tarpon right now since there are large numbers of them in the inshore backcountry around Cocoa Beach. Clients do need to make some technical casts at these fish along mangrove shorelines to be successful. Tarpon are known for their fighting nature and aerial displays once you hook into one!
