Janet and her Grandsons Orlando Bass Fishing Charter

Janet and her grandson were visiting from Australia, and picked a special time of year to book a fishing charter in Orlando. Mid January is when the big female Bass begin to stage before they spawn. This means Bass are hungry and looking for food before having to lay eggs in shallow water beds, making for spectacular Bass fishing!

Targeting Pre-Spawn Bass

Picture
As the water temperatures drop into the mid 60's this time of year, large females are moving around all over the lake to staging areas. These are areas with lot's of baitfish, close to where the female will ultimately end up bedding to lay her eggs. Finding these staging areas is key to finding the big fish. We generally target areas near shallow, clear, and hard sandy bottoms on the Butler Chain of Lakes in Orlando. The Bass will feed on anything they can get their mouths around, but predominately large shiners and glass minnows. High pressure weather conditions after a cold front can give you your best shot at catching one of these big female Bass. We have been catching 20-30 fish all around 4-6 pounds! This can be one of the best times of year to catch these big females, and we are also keeping an eye out for big females that may have moved onto their beds. I expect by the end of this month that sight fishing these big females and smaller males on beds will be in full swing. Give me a call at 407-455-4521 or email nativebassfishing@gmail.com to book your Orlando fishing charters today!
